Miller carbide offers two series of grades so that customers may choose the best one for their tungsten carbide ball needs. We recommend WC-Co grades if more wear resistance is desired. Grain sizes may be anything between 0.4 and 3 m, and the binder content can be anywhere from 6% to 25%. The wear resistance varies with the amount of cobalt, which is shown in the table below.
In the majority of corrosion-wear scenarios, the WC-Ni grades, which are resistant down to pH 2 to 3, are the best option to go with. The hard phase is still WC, but Ni has been replaced with Co, therefore the mechanical and thermal characteristics are very close to those of WC-Co grades.
